SPHERES ART BAR
PROJECT

Year:   2024
Role:   Design & Visualisation

A concept with pronounced colour and bespoke lighting elements designed for the hospitality and multi-function areas of this contemporary art and event space.

Comprising a street facing terrace and two interior rooms, ‘Spheres Art Bar’ forms the entrance, reception and passage to 360m2 of exhibition space in Berlin.

Benefiting from ample natural light, existing architectural luminaires and a dedicated lighting system for exhibition and artworks, this concept has been developed to support the ‘after hours’ culture of the space - a gathering place for art appreciation, discourse and community.

The terrace lighting utilises and coordinates with existing architectural elements to create an environment for seating and hospitality. Operating a programme of events open to the public, colour and visual cues are curated to welcome and guide visitors to the threshold of the venue.

Entering the interior space, the reception / café / bar is characterised by a harmonious interplay of colour with existing exterior passage lighting. Focused downlighting and colour filtered candle light to tables create an environment for seating, flanked by three large columns. With a view for continuity and transformation, a custom treatment of the prominent concrete structures reveals a bespoke, programmable lighting integration. Interior furniture, finishes and service areas are accented to guide the guest experience.

A multi-functional space serves to bridge the reception room and main gallery. Adaptability and visual coherence is prioritised with carefully applied wallwashers to select interior finishes. Accessible and comprehensive user-control facilitates event specific scene setting and adjustment to ensure intuitive wayfinding to guest facilities, gallery and reception areas.
